(This short post was written after Bersih 3.0)
It is apparent from recent events that we will have to choose between the lesser of the two evils…and not for the greater good. The group of satans that whisper into the ear of the incumbents are jaded, old, use the same tricks over and over again and appears to have led them to the brink of disaster and yet the incumbents don’t realise this, nor can they break away from the shackles of the whisperers.
On the other hand, the group of satans that whisper into the opponent’s ear look to manipulate and provoke (knowing the incumbents almost always take the bait) and now appears to be flexing some of its muscles, although some of them had manifested their tricks during a spell from 1993 – 1998 (try finding out about press freedom, press control and freedom of expression during those years). Only now, they have cleverly morphed to suit the times.
What about the EC? Apparently the Council of Evil (CE) governing the whisperers had decided that they are so happy with the situation there that they do not need to send any representatives to influence the EC! After all, like the EC, the CE also have limited resources and so many things to handle.
I pray for a leader who has some knowledge and is sensibly guided by the principles of the Quran and Hadis and who had read and will apply the lessons outlined in ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’. A person who can applaud the good in an opponent and criticize the bad in his own colleagues. Someone who represents the greater good.
Unfortunately, although the person may exist and be highly acceptable to the general public, he will not be able to climb the ladder in any political party. In view of this, we shall have to carefully survey our options in the next general election, and with a heavy heart, choose the lesser of the two evils. Hopefully, God Willing, it would lead to some good for Malaysia.
